Dorothy E. Mikesell, 87, of Marion Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 6:20 p.m. in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind. Mrs. Mikesell was born on May 10, 1912 in Charlottesville, Va. She was a lifelong area resident.

On Oct. 21, 1933 in Mishawaka, as the former Dorothy Hawthorne, she married William Mikesell. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1976. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Wise on May 26, 1988; and by a sister, Jennie Mae Williams. Mrs. Mikesell is survived by two sons, Ronald (Bev) Mikesell of Mishawaka and Donald (Sandy) Mikesell of Osceola, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, Wendy Wise of Mishawaka, Tami Micola Von Furstenrecht of Mishawaka, Randy (Sharon) Wise of South Bend, Tom (Marci) Wise of Mishawaka, Cynthia (Craig) Weyers of South Bend, Stephen Mikesell of Mishawaka, Tracy (David) Faulkner of South Bend, Donald L. (Kelly) Mikesell of Osceola, Ind., Jerry Neff, Jr. of South Bend, Courtney Kalka and Ashley Kalka, both of Mishawaka; 13 great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Virginia Kent of Mishawaka. Mrs. Mikesell was employed by Sears Roebuck & Company in South Bend for 15 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of Albright United Methodist Church in Mishawaka, a member of Sears & Roebuck Company Retirees as well as a member of A.A.R.P.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, in the funeral home, with Ken Mahan, pastor of Albright United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Mikesell may be made to the charity of the donors' choice.
