Helen Singer Wilson Mifflin was born
on July 27, 1905, in Mattawan, Mich., to the late Mattie and
William Singer. She departed this life on Dec. 23, 1998. She was
raised in Mattawan. In later years, she was the proprietor of the
Lake Side Resort, Vandalia, Mich.
Later, she moved to South Bend, Ind., and
united with Olivet A.M.E. Church when it was located on Monroe
Street. She was a member of Odessa Chapter, Order of Eastern Star
#28 and was active until her health declined. In passing, she
leaves her beloved daughter, Betty (Alva) Andrews of South
Bend, Ind.; a son, David King of Grand Rapids, Mich.; six
grandchildren, Shirley (Burt) Lancaster, Maurice (Mary) Lee,
Wanda Anderson, Denise Andrews, Ira Andrews and Lena Wilson;
seven great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; a
sister, Thelma Patterson of Three Rivers, Michigan; and
nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her mother,
father, a sister and two sons. ''For we know that if our earthly
dwelling, a tent, should be destroyed, we have a building from
God; a dwelling not made with hands, eternal in heaven.'' 2 Cor.
5:1
Easter Star Ritualistic Service will be on
Tuesday at 10 a.m., one hour prior to funeral service.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday
at Olive A.M.E. Church. Burial will be on Wednesday at Calvin
Center Community Chapel. Clark Funeral Chapel is in charge of
local arrangements.
