SOUTH BEND - Michael Stephen Mickow, 61, passed away
peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2008, in Hospice House of St.
Joseph County with his wife by his side. Michael was born on May
21, 1947, in Lynnwood, CA, to the late Geraldine (Conlon)
and Thurman Mickow. Michael is survived by his loving wife,
Barbara, with whom he celebrated 37 years of marriage. Michael is
also survived by a son, Scott (Beth) Mickow of Chicago, IL; a
daughter, Megan (Jake) Rosenblatt of Truckee, CA; three
brothers, Brian Iverson of Charlottesville, VA, and Harbor
Springs MI, Donald Mickow of Lost River, WV, and Dennis (Julie)
Mickow of Fortville, IN; as well as numerous aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews, and his nursemaids - dogs, Daisy and Suzie, who
never left his side while he was at home. When his children were
young, Mike helped out with coaching duties where needed and then
took up deer hunting, his only true vice, with friends in LaPorte
County. He also enjoyed watching football games and became an
avid History Channel fan. Mike graduated from Riley High School
and attended Ball State University. His first job was with Dick
and Company Meat Company and later as a route salesman with Pepsi
Cola and 7-Up. As the children got older, the open road called
Mike and he worked for the last number of years as a regional
truck driver for S&S Carthage, CSI of South Bend and, most
recently, Metropolitan Trucking in Pennsylvania.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 30, in Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend.
