Peter Michels

Peter Michels, 75, of 25765 Edison Rd., died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Hospital after a four-month illness. 

He was a retired resident supervisor of Ray Bird Camp of Teens Inc., having worked there 30 years. 

Born on Nov. 19, 1899, in Romania, he had lived here since 1938, coming from Chicago.  He married Katie Deckerz in Romania in 1923.  She survives along with a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Parker of Fisher, Ill.; three sons, Nick of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Peter Jr. of Fort Wayne and Jack J. of Sealey, Tex.; 8 grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Rousch of Philadelphia. 

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Forest G. Hay and Son Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan.  Rev. Ronald Metzger, pastor of the Mayflower Baptist Church, and Rev. George Phillips, director of Teens Inc., will officiate. 

Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. 

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. 

Michels was a member of the Mayflower Baptist Church. 

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the church. (nf)
