Forth-year Owens Valley resident Mary Michels, 72, died Sept. 5 at Southern Inyo Hospital.
Born Nov. 22, 1926 in LaPorte, Ind., she is best remembered as the wife of gold miner Bill Michels from Barrel Springs in Mazourka Canynon.
Survivors include her son Bruce Michels of Yuma Ariz.; daughter Billie Jo Trivinsky of Independence; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Forn and Frances Major of Indiana; and brother William Beaman of Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill and two daughters Patty and Martha.
Editor: Her maiden name was Mary A. Beaman and she married Cletus Wilfred Michels, who was born and raised in South Bend.
