Calvin C. Michael

Calvin C. Michael, 73, died after a
short illness on Wednesday, April 15th, in Memorial Hospital in
South Bend, Ind. Calvin was born on April 1, 1925, in Hope,
Mich., to Jasper W. Michael and Lela Marie (Hoover)
Michael.
On Aug. 10, 1946, he married Betty Marie Kline,
who survives. They have been lifetime residents of the North
Liberty Community. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School. At age
18, in 1943, he was drafted into the Army's 82nd Airborne
Paratroopers Division, where he served in the European Theatre of
War. He was the father of three children, Jeffry L. Michael of
Hamilton, Ohio, Patricia M. Michael Miller of Plymouth, Ind., and
Sally A. Michael Garrett of North Liberty, Ind.; the grandfather
of seven grandsons and six granddaughters; the great-grandfather
of three great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. He is also
survived by three brothers, Gerald Michael of Florida, Albert
''Bert'' Michael of Midland, Mich., Jasper ''Mike'' Michael of
South Bend; and by a sister, Dorothy Joynt of Midland, Mich. Mr.
Michael worked for Standard Oil until 1973. He later retired from
South Bend Lathe in 1990.
Family and friends may attend a memorial
service for Mr. Michael to be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April
25, 1998, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 18950
Roosevelt Road, South Bend, Ind., where Mr. Michael was an active
minister. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall
of Jehovah's Witnesses or to the American Cancer Society. The
Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
