Sister Floracita CSC, 65, a teacher for 48
years, died Tuesday night in St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend. She
was born Clara Marie Metras on Nov. 6, 1898 in Pipestone, Mich.
and was educated in Berrien County, Mich. She entered the Sisters
of the Holy Cross in 1916, making her final profession of vows in
1918. During her community life she taught in the Illinois cities
of Chicago, Peoria and Woodstock; Michigan City and East Chicago
in Indiana; Los Angeles; and Lancaster, Pa. During the last year
she was stationed at St. Mary’s School in Woodstock. She is
survived by four sisters, including Sister Helen CSC, of
Danville, Ill.
The requiem high mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto on the St. Mary’s College campus, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the convent parlor.
