Victor J. Messana, 83, of East 14th
Street, Mishawaka, passed away at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, in
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
Victor was born on Jan. 23, 1922, in
Mishawaka, to John and Anna (Desimone) Messana. He was
preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nina Monlar;
and two brothers, Michael and Angelo Messana.
On July 16, 1960, in South Bend, he married
the former Winifred Veger, who survives along with a
brother, Rosario "Ross" (Kathryn) Messana of Mishawaka,
and several nieces and nephews.
Victor was a veteran of the United States
Army. He served his country proudly during WW II.
Victor retired from the Mishawaka Fire
Department on July 1, 1987, where he had worked for 33 years. He
then worked at Marti Moving and Storage Co. in Mishawaka and
Chasewire, Walkerton, IN. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic
Church, Mishawaka and the Retired Firefighters Association.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and
6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th
Street, Mishawaka where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
10 a.m. Friday, May 20, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev.
Robert Yast officiating.
Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery,
South Bend.
