Celia M. Mesaros, 90, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, in the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility. She was born on Feb. 11, 1910, in Fargo, N.D., to George A. and Linda E. (Smith) Higbee.
On Nov. 24, 1927, in South Bend, she married Joseph J. Mesaros, who died in 1990. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Lillian E. Sterehinger, Ada L. Coodale, Marie Higbee, Hazel Deardorf and Lyella Bottorfe; and by brothers, Alvin, Glen, Francis and Raymond Higbee. Mrs. Mesaros is survived by her two daughters, Sandra K. (John) Warren of South Bend and Judy J. Kristoff of South Bend; three sons, Loren J. (June) Mesaros, William R. (Agnes) Mesaros and Glen S. (Susan) Mesaros, all of South Bend; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Genevie S. Warner of Winter Haven, Fla.
Mrs. Mesaros worked for many years in South Bend at the Fannie May Candy Company, and also at Robertson's and Wilson Brothers. She was a member of South Bend Turners, and belonged to a Wednesday evening card club.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 William Street. Services will be held at a later date at Riverview Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Mrs. Mesaros' memory to the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility.
