Services for Joseph Meribela, 74, of 217 E.
12th St., who died at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday at his home, will be
at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will
be at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today
and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hahn's DeVos Funeral
Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Society of America.
Mr. Meribela was born Feb. 10, 1910, in Mazzara, Italy, and had
lived there since 1920, coming from Italy. He retired from the
Bendix Corp. in 1972, after 38 years of service. On April 27,
1935 in South Bend, he married Bertha I. VanDe Veire. She
survives along with a daughter, Carmela M. Brown of Lawrence, Mich.;
a son Louis Meribela of Mishawaka; a grandchild; a sister, Ann
Kovatch of Mishawaka; and a brother Vincent Meribela of Mishawaka.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the DeAmicis Club, Bendix
Local 9 of the United Auto Workers and the Bendix Retirees Club.
