Richard ''Dick'' Carlyle Meredith, 84, passed away at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 1997, in his home on Hollyhock Road, South Bend. He was born on March 3, 1913, in Hammond, Ind., to Eugene and Louberta (Gunkle) Meredith.

On June 3, 1939, in Rockford, Ill., he married Katherine (Kay) M. Boggie, who predeceased him in March 1994, after 54 years together. They raised two sons, in Argos, Ind. Their son, Tony lives in Lansing, Mich. His three children, Lisa, John and Tony Meredith live in California. Their son, Ted and his wife, Lana, of South Bend, have cared for Kay and Dick for the last five years. Ted and Lana have three sons, Richard and his wife Cari (Sovich) of Springfield, Mo., Brian of Indianapolis and Scott and his wife, Tricia (Cavarro) of South Bend. Richard is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Lou Warnacut of Plymouth, Jane Miller of Austin Texas and Glen Meredith of Plymouth. He was a charter member of Bowler's Country Club.

Services for Richard will be at 11 a.m Wednesday, April 16, at Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, Ind., with Rev. Gregory Fiechtner officiating. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Welsheimer Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Eye Bank.
