Rose Mercantini

MISHAWAKA – Mrs. Rose Mercantini, 84, of 1115 S. Spring Street, a resident of Mishawaka for 46 years, died at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Hospital. She had been ill for several years.

Born in Subbiano, Italy, Oct. 5, 1878, she married Fred Mercantini in Italy in 1899. Mr. Mercantini died in 1920. Surviving are one son and a daughter, Joseph Mercantini and Mrs. Enrico Buba, both of Mishawaka, and three grandsons, all of Mishawaka, and two great-grandchildren. Another son Samuel died in 1928.

Friends may call at the DeVos Funeral Chapel after 7 p.m. today. The funeral will be at St. Bavo’s Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Friday, with Rev. Stephen Cvaniga, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the DeVos chapel.
