SOUTH BEND - Robert M. Melton, 72, of
Gilmer Street, died at 1:30 a.m. Friday in his home. Mr. Melton
retired in 1984 from Indiana Michigan Power Co. as a cable
splicer and line technician and was an employee of Travelmore for
12 years. He was born March 13, 1924, in South Bend and lived in
Plymouth, returning to South Bend.
On March 8, 1947, in South Bend, he married
Marvene K. Moore. She survives with a daughter, Linda
Reiter of South Bend; two sons, Larry D. of Mishawaka and Donald
M. of Chesterton; seven grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Pertics
of LaPaz; and a brother, Jack of South Bend. He was a Navy
veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 360.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in
Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in
Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in
the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation
Army.
