Makenzie Lea Melton, 22, of 454 McCombs Street, South Bend, IN, died September 13, 2001, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born September 4, 1979, in Ottumwa, Iowa., to Donald E. and Rebecca Aeschliman Melton and lived in Ottumwa, Iowa, until 1994. She attended Ottumwa High School, Penn High School in Mishawaka and graduated from Bixby Senior High School in Bixby, Oklahoma. She was employed at Applebee's Restaurant in Mishawaka, Ind. Surviving are her parents of Osceola, Ind.; a sister, Amy Jo Melton of Iowa City, Iowa; and her grandmother, Mrs. Faye Melton of Ottumwa, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wendell and Helen Aeschliman.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2001, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2001, in the Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545-3099.
