Robert J. Megan, 77, passed away
Sunday in Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 18, 1919, in South
Bend. On Nov. 16, 1940, he married Ann Nyikos. He has two
children, Michael Megan of South Bend and Jill Kucharski
of Niles, Mich. Also surviving are a son in-law, Stan Kucharski,
a daughter-in-law, Francele Megan, a sister, Cathy Portolese,
a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Diane and George Basker,
a brother-in-law, Frank Portolese, a cousin Joan Reinhardt;
three grandchildren, Angela Kubiak, Julie Baber,
Janet Sinner; and six great-grandchildren, Tina, Shannon,
Brittney, Nikki, Tyler and Alex. A brother, Jerome Megan preceded
him in death in 1983.
Mr. Megan was a Tech Sergeant, 1st Armored
Division in the Army during World War II. After the service he
worked for the Bendix Corporation for 38 years, retiring in June
1980. He then worked four and one-half years with Bertrand
Products and retired in December 1984. Mr. Megan was a member of
the Elks, Veterans of Foreign Wars 624 and Bendix Retired
Salaried Employees Club. Bob loved to bowl and fish and will be
truly missed by family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Megan will be held
at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 9, in Christ the King Church.
Entombment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call
from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N.
Bendix Drive, where a parish vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m.
