Harlie Meenach, 96, residing at 2150
Shawnee Road, Berrien Springs, Mich., died Tuesday, Dec. 25, in
his home. He was retired from the Studebaker Corporation, South
Bend, Ind., as a bond right engineer following 38 years of
service. He also operated an egg farm in Granger, Ind. He was a
lifetime member of South Bend Eagles #425. He was born March 29,
1905, in Pocahontas County, W.Va., and lived in the South Bend
area most of his life. He moved to Berrien Springs several years
ago. On Aug. 22, 1925, in Portsmouth, Ohio, he married Mildred Gilliland.
She preceded him in death in 1975.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dale
(Beverly) Kreiter of Berrien Springs and Mrs. Paul
(Patricia) Shafer of South Bend; five grandchildren, Tammy
Adams, Robin Kreiter, Tracy Kastner, Pat Kibler and
Phil Shafer; seven great-grandchildren, Aaron Adams, Keith Adams,
Travis Kastner, Rebecca Kastner, Cody Brewer, Nikkie
Shafer and Jessica Shafer; and by a very close friend, Esther Cox
of Niles, Mich.
Services for Mr. Meenach will be at 1:30
p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528
Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Burial will follow at St. Joseph
Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family will receive friends
from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home.
