Sister M. Cypriana Meechan CSC, 83, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 2 a.m. Tu8esday in the convent. She was born Oct. 24, 1908 in Galway, Ireland as Sabina Mary Meehan. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross on Jan. 6, 1928, coming from Dorchester, Mass. She was received as a novice Aug. 15, 1928 and professed her vows Aug 15, 1930. She was assigned to teaching and served elementary school in Morris, Ill.; Alexandria, Va.; New York City; and Richardson and McAllen, Texas. She has resided at Saint Mary’s since 1987. She is survived by two cousins, Sister Helen Crowell CSC, and Sister Helen Patrice Whelan CSC, both of St. Mary’s.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Church of Loretto with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday in the Convent Parlors, where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
