Mary G. Mecklenburg

April 19, 1922 - Aug. 11, 2000

Mary G. Mecklenburg, 78, of Vistula Road, Osceola, Ind., passed away at 3:02 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 11, in the St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

Mary Grace was born on April 19, 1922, in South Bend, to the late Harry J. and Katherine T. (Loughran) Chartier. On June 1, 1946, Mary Grace married Richard L. Mecklenburg in South Bend. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1999.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Michael J.) Ash of Granger, Ind.; a son, Paul (Sally) Mecklenburg of Brownsburg, Ind.; four grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, and Katherine Mecklenburg and Patrick Ash; two sisters, Marian Bickel of South Bend and Virginia Krauss of Stockton, Calif.; and by two brothers, Alfred Chartier of South Bend and Edmund Chartier of Bay Head, N.J.

Mary Grace retired in 1974, from St. Mary's College, South Bend, where she had been a librarian for five years. She had been a former member of the Queen of Peace Catholic church Rosary Society in Mishawaka, Ind.

A memorial mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, where friends may visit with Mary Grace's family, one hour prior to the services. Entombment of her cremains will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, following the memorial mass.
