MISHAWAKA - Judge William T. Means, 80, of Mishawaka, died
Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at Ballard Healthcare in Des
Plaines, Illinois. He was born in Chicago on December 13, 1928,
to Charles and Ruth (Town) Means, who preceded him in death. He
married Francianne Ivick on August 15, 1959, in South Bend. She
preceded him in death on February 9, 2002. William is survived by
two daughters, Margaret Means (William Bergerson) and Rachel
Means (Eric Grant), one granddaughter, Samantha Grant, and a
sister, Marilyn Copeland. Mr. Means received a bachelor of arts
degree from the University of Southern California in 1950, and a
juris doctorate from the University of Michigan in 1953. He was a
judge with the St. Joseph County Superior Court in South Bend,
retiring just one year ago. He was a member of the St. Joseph
County & Indiana State Bar Association, the University of
Michigan Alumni Club, Mishawaka Republican Party, Presbyterian
Players, and First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka. There
will be a memorial service held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 30,
2009, in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka,
Indiana, with Rev. Larry Whitehead, pastor of First United
Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends
from 4-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Condolences may be
