SOUTH BEND - Services for James O. McVay,
79, of Argyle Drive, who died at 5 a.m. Saturday in his home
after an illness, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Matthew
Cathedral. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call
from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home,
Mishawaka, where a parish rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Memorial
contributions may be made to the church or any charity.
Mr. McVay retired in 1976 from
Wheelabrator-Frye Corp., Mishawaka, after 25 years of service. He
was born Jan. 23, 1915, in Mattoon, Ill., and lived in South Bend
since 1951. On Sept. 2, 1942, in Mattoon, he married Mary
Elizabeth Newland. She survives with a daughter, Virginia
``Ginny'' McVay of South Bend; a son, Christopher F. of Eugene,
Ore.; and three grandchildren. He was a member of the church and
Holy Name Society.
