Joseph John McNerney

Joseph John McNerney, 80, of St.
Augustine, Fla., formerly of South Bend, Ind., died on Monday,
March 20, in his home in Florida. Joseph was born on June 15,
1919, in Scranton, Pa., to Gerald J. and Theresa B. (Nagy)
McNerney, who preceded him in death.
On Jan. 6, 1944, in Chicago, Ill., Joseph
married Mary Ellen Roebuck, who survives. He is also
survived by two sisters, Katherine Kois of South Bend and
Theresa McNeil of Elkhart, Ind.; two sons, Terrance of St.
Augustine and Gerald M. of Hamilton Lake, Ind.; two
grandchildren, Gerald and Erin McNerney; and by two brothers,
Robert McNerney of South Bend and Charles McNerney of Sun City,
Ariz.
Joseph was retired from the Studebaker
Corporation and the Ford Motor Company after many years. He was a
World War II Army Air Corps veteran, and was a member of the
Society of Automotive Engineers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10
a.m. on Saturday, March 25, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic
Church, South Bend, with Rev. Joseph Gaughan, assistant pastor,
officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial
Park in Granger, Ind. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in
the HICKEY Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd. Memorial
contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Multiple
Sclerosis Society, Indiana Chapter, 7301 Georgetown Road, Suite
112, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
