SOUTH BEND - Alma M. (Schellinger) McLane, 93, formerly of
South Bend, died Saturday, Oct. 11, in her home of her daughter
Pat in Franklin, MI. Alma was born on June 25, 1915, in
Mishawaka, to Arthur A and Alice F. Schellinger, who
preceded her in death. Before getting married, she worked as an
executive secretary for the Studebaker Corp., where she was also
a member of the rifle club. On August 16, 1947, in St. Patrick's
Church, South Bend, she married Professor Paul E. McLane, who
preceded her in death on March 8, 1993. Survivors are two
daughters, Alice McLane (Axelberg) of South Bend and Pat
(McLane) Starr of Franklin, MI; two sons, Don McLane of
Gig Harbor, WA, and Michael McLane of Indianapolis; and five
grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery on the Notre Dame campus. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, where a Rosary will be said at 5 p.m. Alma was a graduate of South Bend Central High School and a member of Holy Cross Parish.
