Jim D. McIntire

Jim McIntire, loving husband and devoted father, passed away at home on Nov. 17. He died with his loved ones by his side after suffering from a brief illness. He was 62 years old. Jim was born on Jan. 7, 1937, in Anna, Ill., and was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Dean and Nellie Daughne (Wright) McIntire. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Vicki Foreman McIntire; daughters, Misti (Dan) Rooks and Mindy (Shawn) Todd of South Bend; sister, JoAnn Lyngaas of Satellite Beach, Fla.; stepmother and sister, Vida McIntire and Maxine Scarborough of Alpharetta, Ga.; mother-in-law, Jane Tillett of Osceola, Ind.; nephews, Tom Whiteside of Dallas, Texas, Michael Whiteside of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kevin Kane of Angola, Ind.

 

Jim graduated from Anna-Jonesboro High School where he earned All-Sate and All-conference football honors. He attended Southern Illinois University and went on to Butler University on a football scholarship where he majored in Business, was president of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and met his wife, Vicki Lynn Foreman.

 

In South Bend, Jim co-founded Vel-Mac Distributors and later formed The McIntire Company. Jim was a member of Plymouth-Kilwinning Lodge #149 F & AM, Plymouth, Ind., Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, where he served as director of the 14th Degree, past commander in chief of the South Bend Consistory and was crowned a 33 degree Mason in 1989. He was a member and past director of the Royal Order of Jesters Court #43, member of Orak Shrine Temple, Michigan City and South Bend Shrine Club. He also served on the board of the directors and was past president of the South Bend Crime Stoppers. Jim was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mishawaka where he served for six years as a trustee and was chairman of the finance committee.

 

Friends are welcome from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., where a Masonic memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, 401 Lincoln Way East, Mishawaka. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Mishawaka, 401 E.
