Martha E. McInerny, 89, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, died at 1:22 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Martha retired from the South Bend Tribune as a secretary for Franklin Schurz, Sr., for 34 years. She was born on Dec. 29, 1909, in South Bend, Ind., and had been a lifetime area resident. She is survived by three nieces, Jane Mack of Michigan City, Ind., Anne Bolan of Hays, Kan., and Amy Cassidy of South Bend; three nephews, Aaron Huguenard of Barefoot Bay, Fla., William McInerny of Lee Summit, Mo., and Daniel McInerny of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by seven great-nieces and 12 great-nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Martha was a lifetime member of St. Anthony's Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services on Monday morning in the church. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. The Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
