SOUTH BEND - Sister Margaret Mary McGrath, CSC, 80, of Saint Mary's Convent, died at 1:35 a.m. today in her residence. Sister Margaret Mary was born May 20, 1916, in Peoria, Ill.
She entered the Congregation of the Holy Cross on June 23, 1933; received as a novice, Jan. 6, 1934; and professed her vows on Jan. 6, 1936. She was assigned to elementary and junior high school education serving as principal until 1977 at Christ the King Catholic School and St. Thomas Apostle, Elkhart. Other schools include Gary, Logansport, Ind., Anderson, Ind., Chicago, Woodstock, Ill., and Davenport, Iowa. She was assigned as a librarian and assistant principal at Notre Dame School, Michigan City, and St. Joseph's High School, South Bend, working in community service. She is survived by a sister, Mary Kelly of Peoria; a brother, James McGrath of Phoenix; and a nephew, Dr. James McGrath of Granger.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Church of Loretto, Saint Mary's College. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Saint Mary's College. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday in the church, where a wake will be at 7 p.m. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
