Rev. James P. McGarvey CSC, 60, a
missionary priest, died Tuesday of a heart attack in Rangamatia,
East Pakistan, where he served the Sacred Heart Mission Parish.
He was born on Oct. 30, 1905 in Oconto Falls, Wis., and entered
the Holy Cross novitiate in 1927 after graduating from St.
Norberts College, DePere, Wis. He made his final vows in
1931 and was ordained on June 24, 1932. He was immediately
assigned to mission work in East Pakistan where he served all of
his religious life, excepts for visits home and work in this
country during World War II. There are no immediate survivors.
Funeral services and burial will be in East
Pakistan.
