Mrs. Georgia McDougal, 80, formerly
of 2117 West Kenwood Street, South Bend, Ind., departed this life
on Saturday, Jan. 9, in Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation
Center, South Bend. She was born on Sept. 23, 1918, to the late
Gracie and Waymon McDougal in Trenton, Tenn. She is survived by
two nieces, Mrs. Joyce (Morris) Redding and Mrs. Mary Edwards,
both of South Bend; a nephew, Alonzo Whitlock, Jr., also
of South Bend; ten great nieces and nephews; sixteen
great-great-nieces and nephews; eight great-great- great-nieces
and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
After eighteen years of dedicated service,
Ms. McDougal retired from the University of Notre Dame in 1984.
Confessing a hope in Christ at an early age, she united with the
Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church after the passing of her
pastor, the late Elder George Watson of New Hope Primitive
Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Ind. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Lillie B. Briggs
and Mrs. Mattie Mae Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on
Saturday in Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Visitation will
start at 11:30 a.m. prior to funeral services in the church.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Clark- O'Neal Funeral Home
is in charge of services.
