MISHAWAKA - Evelyon Irene (Carr) McClain, 83, of Mishawaka,
passed away on April 7th in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical
Center after a brief illness. She was born on September 28, 1926,
in Cordova, AL, to John Milford Carr and Bertha Clarke Carr. She
was preceded in death by two sisters, Inez Carr Hooten and
Virginia Carr Hanus. Evelyon is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, John and Kathleen McClain of Osceola; her
brother and sister-in-law, John and Stella Carr of Birmingham AL;
her grandchildren, Daniel McClain and Kelly McClain of Osceola;
and two nephews, John Michael Carr (Birmingham, AL) and Jerry
Crawford (Hueytown, AL). She spent most of her adult life in
Cleveland, Ohio. She worked as a Cleveland public school crossing
guard for a number of years and later as a nurse's aide at St.
Augustine Manor in Cleveland. She moved to Birmingham after
retirement to be closer to her brother and sister-in-law. There
she was a member of Beachwood Baptist Church in Mt. Olive, AL.
She moved back to Cleveland after awhile and then, later, she
moved to Mishawaka in 2005 to be closer to her son,
daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Most recently she lived at the
100 Center Apartment Complex in Mishawaka where she had a number
of friends. Visitation will be in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W.
8th St., Mishawaka, on Friday, April 9th, from noon to 2 p.m.
Services will also be in the Hahn Funeral Home on Friday at 2
p.m. Her final resting place will be at Fairview Cemetery in
