Jon David McChesney, 38, formerly of Johnson Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 11:50 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, in Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso, Ind. For the last 11 years, Jon had been a resident of the Valparaiso Care and Rehabilitation Center in Valparaiso. Prior to his injury 11 years ago, he was an auto mechanic with Mahoney Chevrolet in Walkerton, Ind.

On Jan. 22, 1963, in Plymouth, Ind., he was born to Larry and Elsie (Crumb) McChesney of South Bend, who survive. He is also survived by his brother, Robert McChesney, also of South Bend.

Jon was a graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School in 1981, and received his associate's degree in auto mechanics from Ivy Technical Institute.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, with Rev. Greg Crump, pastor of Southside Church of God, officiating. Interment will follow at Porter Rae Cemetery in Potato Creek State Park, North Liberty, Ind. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
