John E. McCallister

NEW CARLISLE - John E. ''Mac'' McCallister, 58, of Indiana 2, died at 8:45 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Medical Center after an illness. Mr. McCallister retired from the St. Joseph County Police Department. He was born June 3, 1937, in South Bend.

On Aug. 30, 1958, in South Bend, he married Shirley Nawrocki. She survives with four daughters, Vikki McCallister of Chicago, Linda Thomas and Carol McCallister, both of South Bend, and Debbie Dake of Washington state; a son, John of South Bend; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Velma Eader of Mishawaka; two sisters, Carol Greenlee of Michigan and Jean Reppert of Mishawaka; and a brother, Jim Miller of Lakeville. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 155 and was a peacetime veteran.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation.
