Rev. Michael Dillon McCafferty CSC,
40, of Dillon Hall, Notre Dame, assistant dean of the Notre Dame
law school and associate professor of law, died Friday in St.
Joseph Medical Center after an illness. He was born Aug. 18, 1946
in Cincinnati; on July 16, 1967 he made his first vows in the
Holy Cross Community; and on April 6, 1974 he was ordained to the
priesthood in Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame. Following
ordination he served as a trial attorney with the Office of
General Counsel of the US Equal Employment Commission in
Washington DC. In 1979 he was appointed assistant dean of the
Notre Dame law school. He received his bachelors of arts degree
in government and international studies, doctor of laws, and
masters degree in theology from Notre Dame. He received a masters
degree in law from Harvard University.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in
Sacred Heart Church, with burial in Community Cemetery. Friends
may call after 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Moreau Seminary Chapel, where
a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.
