SOUTH BEND - Freda L. McBride, 81, of Meridian Nursing Center-River Park, formerly of South St. Joseph Street, died at 11:15 a.m. Monday in the nursing home. Mrs. McBride was a clerical worker for the former Oliver Corp. She was born Jan. 22, 1912, in Sullivan, Ind., and lived in South Bend for 50 years, coming from Sullivan.

On May 29, 1936, in Sullivan, as Freda Alumbaugh, she married John L. McBride. He survives with two daughters, Linda Myers and Myrna Mahoney, both of South Bend; a son, Gary of St. Charles, Ill.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jennie Shepherd of Shelburne, Ind., and Mary McCammon of Trafalgar, Ind.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
