SOUTH BEND - Douglas R. McBeth, 49, of South Bend, passed
away Wednesday evening, August 13, 2008, in Memorial Hospital,
South Bend, following a lengthy illness. Doug was born July 14,
1959, in Clarksville, Indiana, a son of David and Delores (Schultz)
McBeth. He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1978. While
growing up, Doug was an Eagle Scout and developed a love of
playing the drums and the outdoors. He furthered his education,
attending the Industrial Maintenance Program at Ivy Tech in South
Bend. On April 22, 1992, Doug married Grace Horvath and
the couple made South Bend their home. Doug was employed at
Contech in Mishawaka and most recently at St. Mary's College in
South Bend where he did sound and lighting. He was a member of
Grace Community Church in Mishawaka and played the drums with the
Worship Team. Doug has served as a Boy Scout Leader. He had a
great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, camping and
fishing. Doug's surviving family includes his wife, Grace; two
daughters, Christina McBeth of New Albany and Anna McBeth of
South Bend; his parents, David (Frances) McBeth of Corydon and
Delores McBeth of New Albany; and a sister, Debbie (Greg) Wirth
of New Albany.
Friends may spend time with Doug's family
Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in Grace Community Church, 4001
Lincolnway East, Mishawaka. Services will be held Sunday at 4
p.m. in the church with Pastor Rick Graves officiating. Burial
will take place Monday morning in Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
Contributions in Doug's memory are suggested to The Center for
Hospice & Palliative Care. Envelopes will be available at the
church. Services are in the care of Thallemer, Goethals &
Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka,
