OSCEOLA - Walter J. ''Mac'' McAleer, 88, of South Chestnut Street, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, after an illness. Mr. McAleer had been employed with Fuller O' Brien Paint Co., South Bend. He was born June 9, 1906, in Buchanan County, Iowa. On July 9, 1943, in Valparaiso, he married Alice O. Myers. She survives with four daughters, Joan Goff of Osceola,

Marvine McIntyre of Utah, Betty Eggleston of Florida and M. Moore of South Bend; four sons, James of Valparaiso, Arthur of Michigan, William Myers of South Bend and John Myers of Michigan City; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Howard of Arkansas. A daughter, Norma Lewis, died in 1985.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
