George H. Mayr

August 1, 1885 – December 26, 1962

Friends of George H. Mayr, 1009 E. Jefferson Blvd., may call after 7pm today in the Russell Funeral Chapel.  Mr. Mayr died Wednesday in Memorial Hospital after an illness of 10 months.  He was the former owner of a leather shop, a former district sales manager for the Terre Haute Brewing Co. and for many years, he was associated with the Mayr Jewelry Store.

A lifetime resident of South Bend, he was born here on August 1, 1885.  He married the former Wanda Nelson on January 24, 1950, in Michigan City.  She survives with a daughter, Mrs. Robert Linden, Scituate MA; a brother, Frank Mayr Jr. and three grandchildren.

Mr. Mayr was a graduate of Lake Forest Academy, Lake Forest IL, and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. 

Services will be at 11am Saturday in the Cathedral of St James, of which Mr. Mayr was a member, with Very Rev. Robert F. Royster, dean of the cathedral, officiating.  Burial will be in St Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
