Yang Ma, 73, of Highland Drive, South
Bend, Ind., passed on at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, after an
illness. She was born on June 15, 1929, in Pyong Yang, Korea, and
migrated to Seoul, South Korea, during the Korean War to start a
new life in freedom. After having established successful textile
and real estate businesses in Seoul, she later followed her
daughter and moved to the United States where she lived for the
past 15 years in Irving, Texas.
Mrs. Ma was preceded in death by her
husband, Wan Kim. She is survived by a daughter, Sooka Elliott,
and granddaughters, Sasha and Kady Elliott. She also has a son,
Chang Won Kim, who currently resides in South Korea.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on
Friday, Feb. 21, in the McGann Funeral Home, 2313 E. Edison Road
in South Bend, with Reverend Ho Seup Sim of the Michiana Korean
Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, any memorial
contributions may be donated in the name of Mrs. Ma to Hospice of
St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
