SOUTH BEND - Kenneth E. Maurer, 94, of South Bend, IN, passed
away on Monday, March 22, in Golden Living Center - Fountainview,
Mishawaka, IN. He was born on August 19, 1915, in Walkerton, IN,
to the late Bessie (Sheaks) and William N. Maurer. On June 9,
1940, in South Bend, he married Ruth M. Kirch, who preceded him
in death on March 5, 2005. Kenneth was also preceded in death by
a sister, Eva, and a brother, Wayne. Surviving Kenneth are a
daughter, Helen Jo Maurer of Grand Blanc, MI; a son, William E.
Maurer of Elkhart, IN; and a sister, Neva Klindinst of Walkerton,
IN. Kenneth retired in 1976 as a tool-and-die maker for Chevrolet
Division of General Motors. He was a graduate of Tyner High
School, Tyner, IN. He was a member of Sunnyside Presbyterian
Church, South Bend, and held memberships in the Grand Blanc
Masonic Lodge #571, South Bend Masonic Lodge #294, Ancient
Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, the South Bend Shine
Club and the Orak Temple, and was a member of United Auto Workers
Local 651. Memorial services for Kenneth will be at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday, March 25, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N.
William Street, South Bend. Rev. James B. Miller, pastor of
Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, will conduct the memorial
services. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Polk
Township Cemetery, Teegarden, IN, at 2 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners
Hospital for Children, 2211 North Oak Park, Ave., Chicago, IL,
60707; or to Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, 115 S. Frances St.,
