John "PaPa John" Matousek,
71, of 1684 SE Green Acres Circle HH 104, Port Saint Lucie, Fla.,
formerly of Walkerton, Ind., passed away on Saturday, July 8, in
the Port Saint Lucie Nursing Home. Mr. Matousek was born on Dec.
30, 1928, in Des Plaines, Ill., to John and Anna (Zacek)
Matousek. He lived in Port Saint Lucie for 12 years, coming from
Walkerton. Before his retirement he was a telegrapher with Union
Pacific Railroad, Chicago, Ill., for 23 years, operated the
Koffee Kup Restaurant in Grovertown, Ind., for 10 years, and
worked at Plasteel in Walkerton for 10 years. He was a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Bible Baptist
Church of Ft. Pierce, Fla., a former member of the First Baptist
Church of Walkerton, and a member of the Svithiod Lodge, Chicago.
On July 11, 1953, in Franklin Park, Ill., he was married to
Arlene Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Arlene;
beloved Mary and Robert Mataitis of Matteson, Ill.; a
sister, Dorothy Dorsey of Midlothian, Ill.; two nephews
and several cousins; and by a godchild, Karen Huffman of Roscoe,
Ill.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on
Saturday, July 15, in the First Baptist Church, Walkerton, with
Pastor D.O. Van Dyne officiating. Burial will be at the
Grovertown Cemetery. Friends may call at 10 a.m. on Saturday in
the church until time of services. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests memorials be made to the National Parkinson's
Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue, Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136;
to the First Baptist Church Missionary Fund of Walkerton; or to
the Bible Baptist Church Missionary Fund of Fort Pierce, FL. The
Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, is in charge of
arrangements.
