MATCHETTE, Darrell Dean, 91,
passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011, in North Carolina. He was
born June 29, 1920, in Misha-waka, Ind., and was a former
resident of Sebring, Fla., where he was an Accountant with the
Sun 'N Lake Improvement District and a member of Whispering Pines
Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World
War II, serving in the U.S.
Navy from 1941-1946 in the Pacific Theatre on the Los Angeles
in China. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers,
one sister and a loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth
"Betty" Matchette. He is survived by his caring wife of
six years, Betty Matchette; six children, George (Leslie) Gradek,
Tom (Connie) Matchette, Deb (Johnny) Krantz, Tim Matchette, Terry
Matchette and DeeDee (Johnny) Randall; nine grandchildren; and
five great-grandchildren. He had a lot of love for his family and
the great outdoors. Fishing, camping and canoeing were three of
his greatest passions, which he passed on to his children and
grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday,
October 29, 2011, at Whispering Pines Baptist Church, Sebring,
with the Rev. Steve Trinkle officiating. The family will receive
friends preceding the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment at
Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, will be immediately
