Sister M. Rose Eileen Masterman CSC, 85, of St. Mary’s Convent died there Thursday. She was born Aug. 27, 1898 as Eileen Dolores Masterman in Baltimore and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on July 22, 1916. She was received as a novice on Jan. 1, 1917 and professed her vows two years later. She was a teacher in secondary schools and colleges of the congregation. She served in administrative and teaching assignments in Baltimore, Washington DC, Alexandria, Va., Lancaster, Pa., Brookline, Mass.,Salt Lake City; and two years at St. Mary’s College, where she received a PhD in theology in 1960. She lived at St. Mary’s Convent since 1969 and was active in various projects.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, followed by burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call until the services in the comvent parlors, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. today.
