Sister M. Concessa, 48, who for 30
years had been a member of the Sisters of Holy Cross was drowned
Wednesday in the St. Joseph River near St. Marys Convent.
She had been ill for some time and was under careful treatment.
She was born in 1884 in Baltimore as Pauline Masterman. She came
to South Bend 33 years ago and ewntered the convent in 1901. She
received the habit in 1902 and made her final vows in 1907. She
was widely known in South Bend as she was a music teacher at St.
Joseph Academy for several years. She also taught in Washington
and Valparaiso in Indiana. She was a twin sister of Sister M.
Angnella CSC also of St. Marys.
