Ida Marzotto, 83, formerly of W. 14th St., Mishawaka, passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Ida was born on May 12, 1918 in Sesser, Illinois to the late Dante and Rina (Cassanelli) Romani. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Gina Cavaletto and a brother, Bruno Romani.
On February 21, 1942, in Chicago, Ida married Mario Marzotto. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1997. Surviving are two daughters, Sharon (Dave) Henderson of South Bend and Gayla (John) Papachristou of Richfield, Connecticut; four granddaughters, Kim (Rick) Cave, Karri (Paul) Moreland, Karen (John) Staton, and Kellee (Rich) Etter, all of Mishawaka; a grandson, Brent Stehmer of New York City; seven step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, and a brother, Lindo Romani of E. Alton, Illinois.
Ida retired from UniRoyal, Inc., in 1980 after 26 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Mishawaka where she was a member of the Church's Rosary society, and a member of the DeAmicis Club Auxiliary.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, May 31, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 1, in St. Joseph Church with Fr. Robert A. Yast officiating. Entombment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to either Hospice of St. Joseph County or the Alzheimer's Association.
