MISHAWAKA - Cyril “Don” Martz, 89, of Mishawaka died Friday morning at Riverside Village, Elkhart. He is survived by daughters, Nancy E. Sorgenfrei of Granger and Donna J. Andrews of Mishawaka; sons, Aaron W. G. Martz of Mishawaka and Lovell K. Martz of Elkhart; 16 grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Jane Snook of Granger. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wed. Dec. 27 at Apostolic Temple, 2221 S. Ironwood, South Bend. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tues. in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park and at the church one hour prior to services on Wed.

MISHAWAKA - Cyril “Don” Martz, 89, of Mishawaka, passed away following an illness at 7:15 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2006, in Riverside Village, Elkhart.

Mr. Martz was born August 14, 1917, in Tallman, Michigan, as the son of Shirl and Nellie (Mink) Martz, and had resided in the Mishawaka-Osceola area most of his life.

On December 18, 1936, in Greater Midway Gospel Tabernacle, South Bend, he married Enid V. Rowe. Together, they enjoyed more than 65 years of marriage until her passing on March 27, 2002. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Huffman and Jane Martz, and by a son-in-law, Lloyd Andrews.

Mr. Martz is survived by two daughters, Nancy E. (James) Sorgenfrei of Granger, IN, and Donna J. Andrews of Mishawaka, IN; and two sons, Lovell K. (Lila) Martz of Elkhart, IN, and Aaron (Judy) Martz of Mishawaka, IN. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A sister, Margie Jane Snook of Granger, survives Don as well.

Music was a vital part of Don's life. He was a gifted and accomplished musician, playing the piano, violin, guitar, mandolin, string bass and the harmonica. He loved listening to the gospel quartets. He attended James Whitcomb Riley High School, South Bend, and had been an active member of Apostolic Temple, South Bend, since he was a teenager. He retired from the South Bend Public Transportation Company following more that 40 years of faithful service.

Services celebrating the life of Cyril “Don” Martz will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006, in Apostolic Temple, 2221 South Ironwood Drive, South Bend. Revs. Peter and Paul Rowe will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, and one hour prior to services Wednesday in the church.
