SOUTH BEND - Williana Marie Martin, 61, was born on
September 10, 1946, in South Bend, Indiana, to Almeda and Willie
Maefield. Williana was the oldest of five children. Her siblings
were Calvin Maefield, South Bend, Willie Maefield III, St.
Paul, Minnesota, Melvin Mayfield and Dottyann Maefield of South
Bend, Indiana. Williana received her formal education through the
South Bend Community School Corporation, where she met her first
and true love, James Curtis Martin Sr. Williana and James married
on June 12, 1965. They were married for 43 years. From this union
they have two daughters, Marcia Lynette Martin and Crystal Deanne
Martin, South Bend; and one son, James Curtis Martin Jr. of San
Bernardino, California. She also has two grandchildren, Reginald
Dwayne Charles Jr. of Torrance, California, and Maleah
Evette Alsenat of South Bend, Indiana. Through her
extended family she has a daughter-in-law, Yolanda Michelle Robinson-Martin;
five additional grandchildren, Albert Williams Jr.,
Terrence Williams, Alanda Williams, Almia Williams and Aldre
Williams; and one great-grandchild, Tyler Williams of San
Bernardino, California. Williana's gifts were a servant's heart
and helping hands. Her life objective was to serve God with all
her heart and soul. Her secondary objective was to enhance the
lives of her family and serve the church and community,
especially the youth; she loved her family and friends dearly.
Williana's sun set on September 7, 2008, at 5:13 a.m. in Indiana.
Williana's Homegoing Celebration will start
at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, in Calvary Baptist Church,
located at 3001 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend IN 46628.
