Martin Martinez

Mr. Martin Martinez, 36, dear loved one, who resided on Norton Street, Marion, Ind., formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away following an illness at 9:18 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, in his residence.

Martin was born July 20, 1965, in South Bend, to Jose and San Juana (Benavidez) Martinez. After graduating from Washington High School, he served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1985. He was employed as a machinist until becoming disabled. In 2000, he moved to Marion.

Surviving family members include his mother, San Juana Carranza of South Bend; seven sisters, Biolanda (Robert) Perales of Fort Worth, Texas, Eva Blanco of Goshen, Ind., Delia Matinez of Louisville, Ky., Juanita Martinez, Margarita (Humberto) Vasquez and Teresa (Timothy) Price, all of South Bend, and Elsa Martinez of Irving, Texas; six brothers, Ruben (Rose Marie) Martinez and Roberto (Antoinette) Martinez, both of Mishawaka, Ind., Jose Martinez Jr., Raymond (Mishael) Martinez and Gilberto Martinez, all of South Bend, and Apolinar (Rita) Martinez of Waco, Texas; his fiancée, Jami Marsee of Marion; 34 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews.

On March 28, 2001, his father, Jose Martinez, preceded him in death, and also a sister, Guadalupe Martinez.

Services for Mr. Martinez will be at 1 p.m. today, Nov. 27, in Alford's Mortuary. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in Alford's Mortuary, where arrangements have been entrusted.
