SOUTH BEND - Herminia "Minnie" Martinez, 77,
passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2008, at 11:45 a.m. in
Cardinal Nursing Home. Herminia was born on June 4, 1931, in
Yorktown, TX, to the late Roque and Celia (Banda) Orosco.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Rudy Martinez ; and
her two brothers, Rosendo Orosco and Rocky Orosco Jr. She is
survived by her three children, Juanita Garza of South
Bend, Amparo Martinez Jr. of South Bend and Louis (Paula)
Martinez of South Bend; three grandchildren, Lisa Marie (David) Schoen
of South Bend, Sara Marie Martinez of South Bend and Amparo G.
(Amber Smith) Martinez III of South Bend; four sisters, Alicia
(Gregorio) Arana of Wauchula, FL, Teresa (Emilio) Ortiz
of Lubbock, TX, Guadalupe (Francisco) Arellano of Oklahoma
City, OK, and Delores (Ramon) Perez of Oklahoma City, OK;
three brothers, Robert (Cynthia) Orosco of Mangum, OK, Antonio
(Mary) Orosco of Arizona and Jose (Marylou) Orosco of Mangum, OK.
Herminia worked for the University of Notre Dame, and was a
member of L.U.L.A.C. and St. Adalbert Catholic Church. She
enjoyed sewing and music, and she loved dancing. The family would
like to extend a special thanks to Cardinal Nursing Home staff,
Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Harbor Light Hospice and
Dr. Max Helman and staff.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today,
August 5th, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road,
South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 6th, at
10 a.m. in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at
St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
