SOUTH BEND - Edna P. Martin, 71, of South Bend, IN, formerly of
Earle, Arkansas, departed this life Saturday, April 24, 2010, in
Memorial Hospital. Edna was born May 24, 1938, in Earle,
Arkansas, to the union of Emma (Brown) Johnson and Henry Johnson.
She married longtime mate, Romeo Martin, on September 12, 1989;
they had been together 20 years before this union, and he
survives. She was preceded in death by two children: a daughter,
Johnnie Veils, and a son, Alquentin "Al" Hill; her
parents; a sister, Earnestine White; and two brothers, Johnny
Johnson and Charles Johnson. She leaves to mourn her death
nieces, three special nieces, Glenda Brooks (Thomas) of Danville,
IL, Windell Hill of Memphis, Tenn., Tonya Stevenson (Jackie) of
Cahokia, IL; and a host of great-nieces, great-great-nieces,
nephews, great-nephews and cousins; a sister-in-law, Harriet
Booker and family of Detroit, MI; special cousins, Robert (Jerri)
Adair of South Bend; goddaughter, Cynthia Crawford-Burton;
godson, Elijah Hurmon; and special friend, Mary Crawford; and a
lot of good, lifelong friends, including two very special
friends, Cynthia and Bev. We really appreciate you Cynthia, we
love you, Edna loved you; your kindness will never be forgotten.
Special Note: On April 24, 2010, we lost the root of our family.
We lost a mother, an aunt, and our best friend. Gone but never
forgotten. We love you Nute. Services for Mrs. Edna Pearl Martin
will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010, in the Clark-O'Neal
Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN. Visitation
will begin at noon, funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Burial
will follow funeral services at Highland Cemetery. The
Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral
arrangements.
