Martha L. Marshall

Martha L. Marshall, 88, of Mishawaka Road, Elkhart, Ind., formally of South Bend, Ind., died on Monday, May 10, in the Valley View Nursing Home, Elkhart. She was born in Argos, Ind., on July 14, 1910. Mrs. Marshall was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, South Bend, the National, Indiana State and St. Joseph County Associations of the Retired Teachers Association, the American Association of Retired Persons, and she was a 1957 graduate of Ball State.

On May 4, 1935, in New Ross, Ind., as Martha L. Sissel, she married James E. Marshall, who survives in Elkhart. She is also survived by her daughter, Jane Ann England of Elkhart; four grandchildren, Constance Brown, Keith Bennett, Anne Carmein and Allison Qualls; and by seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Marshall retired from the South Bend Community School Systems in 1977 after teaching elementary school in Argos, Culver and South Bend.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church, South Bend.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church, and burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.  The Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is trusted with the arrangements.
