Jay M. Marquis

July 7, 1881 – October 2, 1939

Jay M. Marquis, aged 58, of 1043 Van Buren Street, died in his residence Monday afternoon after three weeks illness with a heart ailment.

He was born in South Bend July 7, 1881 and lived all his life here.  He was married in South Bend in 1906 to Alma Van Buskirk, who preceded him in death.  He was janitor at the James Madison School

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. George Brown, South Bend; two sisters, Mrs. H. R. Schuell and Mrs. George Lanphier, both of South Bend, and a brother, Harold Marquis, Los Angeles CA.

Friends will be received in the residence today and Wednesday forenoon.  Then the body will be taken to Calvary Baptist Church to lie from 12:30pm until the funeral at 2pm Wednesday, Rev. Noel P. Irwin, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  Mr. Marquis was a member of Calvary Church.
