Lena Elizabeth Marquardt, 95, of 3782 900 East County Line Road, New Carlisle, Ind., died of natural causes on Monday, Aug. 21, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. She was born on Feb. 17, 1905, in St. Joseph, Mich., and was a homemaker. She was active in the Lions Club of Howard Township, and attended Free Will Baptist Church, Rolling Prairie, Ind.

On Jan. 5, 1935, in Berrien County, Mich., she married Arthur Marquardt, who preceded her in death in 1990. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rebecca Irk. She is survived by a daughter, Loretta (LeRoy) Atherton of New Carlisle; a son, Richard G. Marquardt of Saginaw, Mich.; a brother, Levi "Bud" Geiser of Stevensville, Mich.; and by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24, in Pifer-SMITH Funeral Home, Niles, with burial at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, in the Pifer-SMITH Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart/Lung Association.
